Artisan Wines from Little Carpathians

We make white, orange, reddish and red wines. We respect nature, traditions and climate conditions. We grow grapes in an ecological way and train wines traditionally in the old Renaissance cellar. We do minimum technology interventions to wine. Experience has taught us that nature is the best winemaker. It just takes her a bit more time but we are not in a hurry. We have time.

Terroir

Svätý Jur – Little Carpathians Wine Region

The mild slopes of the Little Carpathians, the south-eastern orientation, the granite bedrock, the warm sandy soils and the temperate climate zone are a well-tuned interplay of major terroir factors that give wines from Little Carpathians a special character and good maturing potential.

The soil horizon is shallow, full of stones and sometimes barely cover the massive granite core. Agriculture tools suffers, but the vineyard has been doing very well here for centuries.

The broken ridge of the Little Carpathians has a fundamental influence on climatic conditions. In the southeast it opens beautiful sunny locations, and from the north the same ridge protects the vineyards from the cold northwestern current.

Vineyards

Healthy grapes from a healthy vineyard

We grow grapes in an ecological and sustainable way that is friendly to nature. Living soil, biodiversity and balance are the basis of a healthy vineyard and high quality grapes. Therefore, we do not use herbicides, systemic fungicides or synthetic fertilizers and at the same time we minimize agrotechnical interventions. We cooperate with nature, not fight it. Sometimes it’s hard, but we don’t see other way.

Cellar

Our technology is simple – grinder, press and barrel

We produce wine in the traditional way with minimum technology intervention. We process only healthy grapes. We do not fine grape juice. We do not use any additives besides sulfur. We always ferment spontaneously. We macerate all wines on skins. Maturation takes place in oak and acacia barrels in the natural environment of the old Renaissance cellar. We do not rack, fine or filter the wines and we work with sulfur in a very gentle way.
